Welcome to GenX Classic Sports, where we rewind to the moments that defined a generation — the plays, the players, and the pure emotion that made growing up in the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s such an unforgettable time to be a sports fan.

Story time. Today, we’re going back to November 23, 1984 — Thanksgiving weekend. Boston College versus the Miami Hurricanes. A humid afternoon in the Orange Bowl. And one of the most unforgettable plays in college football history.

It’s the game that made Doug Flutie a legend — a 5-foot-9 quarterback who defied every odd and launched the Hail Mary heard ‘round the world.

This wasn’t just a touchdown pass — it was a moment that became part of sports mythology.
